Where We Came From
After years running kitchens for some of the country’s most respected chefs, Jeff Newman wanted to bring that same care to a casual neighborhood spot. The food and service would be great. The atmosphere would be easygoing. No pomp and circumstance required.
His lifelong love of barbecue and nostalgia for Tex-Mex shaped Hi-Lo. It’s a place built around good food, genuine hospitality, and community without taking itself too seriously.
Hi-Lo is Philly’s neighborhood taco and tequila bar, serving seriously unserious tacos on handmade flour tortillas and great margaritas.

We’re right at 11th and Walnut, in the middle of it all, between City Hall and Old City, and a few blocks from the Convention Center. Come for a taco. Stay for a few rounds.
